06/21/2019  I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend YWCA's 2019 Leadership Summit. Though I had no idea what to expect prior to going, I was sincerely impressed by the women who attended as mentors and also those who were going through or had successfully completed the YWEmpowered program. I am also connected with a YWEmpowered alum, Kaletta Lynch, and can see that she is truly passionate about the program.

We met with Anne Burckholder, CEO of Utah YWCA chapter, and she discussed the outreach programs currently in place, including YWEmpowered. I had not heard of this before, and felt it would be a great opportunity to develop my leadership skills for my new position, Deputy Executive Director.

I recently moved to Utah and I am working on an Inclusive Leadership course and I was asked about leaders I admire; I had recently learned about Heidi Kuhn (founder of "Roots of Peace" and was inspired by her work; when I googled her name, the YWCA of San Fran. popped up b/c she is involved! It reminded me of the YWCA and inspired me to see if there was a local Utah chapter!
